Angela Bassett also won’t be in Mission: Impossible 7

Nicholas Hoult has already had to abandon the film following the stoppage of filming because of the Covid.

Angela Bassett played Erika Sloane, the boss of the CIA in Mission: Impossible Fallout. She was supposed to reprise that role in Episode 7, but she just revealed to Collider that the Covid had it “Kicked out of the project. So I can’t tell you anything about this sequel! Maybe I can tease you Mission: Impossible 8?”

The 62-year-old actress isn’t the first to have to give up M: I 7 because of a conflict of agenda: last year, it is Nicholas Hoult (Skins, X-Men, Mad Max: Fury Road…) who had to drop his new role within this saga still led by Tom Cruise following the stoppage of filming. This was imposed for several weeks when people from the team had tested positive for Covid-19. As he was already engaged on the second season of the series The Great, he was no longer available on the new dates of this big Paramount production and had to give way to another actor, Esai Morales (Ozark). The shots resumed, but were once again stopped in June 2021. Mission: Impossible 7 is now due out on May 25, 2022.
