Anthony Hopkins will voice a robot in the next Zack Snyder, Rebel Moon

The double Oscar-winning actor joins Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Jena Malone…

This week, Netflix was full of revelations as part of Geeked Week, revealing for example thatAnthony Hopkins was going to dub one of the key characters of Rebel Moonthe sci-fi film by Zack Snyderwho is teaming up again with the production box after the success of its zombie film Army of the Dead. This will not be the actor’s first experience in a blockbuster, since he recently played Odin at Marvel, as well as a character from Transformers 5. The director confirms on Twitter hiring the 84-year-old, recently Oscar-winning actor for The Father, so that he lends his voice to JC1435, a combat robot nicknamed Jimmy, who has extraordinary sensitivity and who was responsible for defending a murdered king. It’s not yet clear how he’ll fit into the story, but the director has already given a glimpse of the character:

Filming since last AprilRebel Moon will be worn by Sofia Boutella (Climax), who will play the heroine of the film, but also Charlie Hunnam (The Lost City of Z), Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy), Doona Bae (CloudAtlas), Ray Fisher (already in Justice Leagueby the same director) or even Jena Malone (whom he filmed in Sucker Punch). Co-written by Snyder, Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, the trio behind Army of the Dead for Netflix, it will tell the story of a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy threatened by the armies of the tyrannical regent Balisarius. A young woman with a mysterious past is therefore sent to seek warriors on neighboring planets to help them defend themselves. The film is expected to hit the platform early next year.
