Blue Beetle: after Catwoman, Sharon Stone will replay a villainous DC

Victoria Kord will be created especially for the cinema.

In 2004, Sharon Stone faced Catwoman, played by Halle Berry, in Pitof’s film. A critical failure which does not however discourage the actress: at 64, she has just resigned with Warner Bros to play the big bad again in a superhero film from DC Comics: Blue Beetle. The first film of its kind to have a Latino as its main character, this one will be released in theaters on August 18, 2023, and variety today details its cast.

Halle Berry doesn’t regret making Catwoman

Xolo Mariduen (Cobra-Kai) was chosen to play the title role, whose human alter ego is a teenager named Jamie Reyes (a more modern version than the initial superhero created in 1939). A fan of Batman, he sees his life turned upside down when the Blue Beetle merges with him, gaining significant strength and the ability to emit very powerful blue light. Powers that he struggles to master properly in the comics designed by Geoff Johns, Keith Giffen, John Rogers and Cully Hamner since 2005.

Raoul Max Trujillo (Mayans MC) will play Carapax the Indestructible Man, present in the comics, and Stone will play Victoria Kord, an evil character who was created especially for the cinema. Bruna Marquezine (breaking through) will play Penny, the female lead character and “love interests” of the hero, Belissa Escobedo (Hocus Pocus 2) will play his little sister, Milagros, and Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows) was also cast in an unknown role. Everything will be directed by Angel Manuel Soto (Charm City Kings) from a screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (Miss Bala).
