Canal Plus will no longer broadcast the Cannes Film Festival

The channel had been offering the opening and closing ceremonies in the clear for 28 years.

It is a partnership existing since 1993 which has just ended, announces Point : the directors of Canal + have decided to no longer broadcast Cannes festival from 2022. The next edition should be held from May 17 to 28, 2022, but it will not be visible live and unencrypted on the channel. France Télévisions and Brut have already positioned themselves to resume broadcasting of the opening and closing ceremonies of the event, as well as the stair climbs of the Palais des Festivals. Canal + will still continue to produce content around the films and personalities present as part of the festival, specifies the article.

On the other hand, the chain is continuing its partnership with the Césars, whose next ceremony will take place on February 25 and will be hosted by Antoine de Caunes.
