Christina Ricci finds The Addams Family… but not to play Wednesday!

The Gomez and Morticia girl will become a teenager in Tim Burton’s new live-action series for Netflix.

30 years later, Christina Ricci returns to the world of The Addams Family. The actress, who played little Wednesday in the two 1990s films, has just joined the cast of the upcoming Netflix live-action series by Tim Burton, which will be called Wednesday (Wenesday). A story dedicated to the little girl of Gomez and Morticia who has become a teenager. Except that Christina Ricci will not play Wednesday!

She who is preparing to shoot season 2 of the hit Yellowjackets, has just signed for a role as a regular in the casting, of which nothing is known. Knowing that Wednesday, who will be less than twenty years old in the series, will be played by Jenna Ortega (Jane the Virgin).

Described as a “supernatural-infused mystery investigation”, this Wednesday series will follow the young, death-obsessed Wednesday Addams during her years as a student at the bizarre Nevermore Academy. The eight-episode series will follow his attempts to “master his emerging psychic abilities, and thwart a monstrous slaughter that terrorized the local town and solve the supernatural mystery that bedeviled his parents 25 years ago…”according to the official synopsis.

Catherine Zeta-Jones will play the role of Morticia Addams, the matriarch of The Addams Familywhile Luis Guzmán will play the patriarch Gomez Addams, succeeding Anjelica Huston and Raul Julia.

The series is written by the creators of Smallville, Al Gough and Miles Millar, who will also serve as showrunners. Tim Burton will direct and produce.
