“We are going to see a very powerful Vader,” promises Hayden Christensen.
The journey of Hayden Christensen with Star Wars resumes its course, 17 years later. Absent from the series’ first trailer Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Sith Lord is back on this first look unveiled by EW yesterday. A simple photo on which we see Darth Vader emerging from his meditation chamber, where he allows himself to remove his helmet. Which would mean that we will probably see the Jedi go to the dark side in armor and without a helmet, in the series: “I wish I could tell you. But I’m sworn to secrecy,” responds soberly Hayden Christensen at EW.
The Canadian actor, 40 years old today, will indeed be back to play Anakin Skywalker, having finished transforming the character into Vader, at the end of Revenge of the Sith, in a time never seen before Star Warsa few years before RogueOne Where A New Hope. A period during which the Emperor’s protege increased his strength tenfold: “We are going to discover a very powerful Vader”promises Christensen.
“His shadow will hang over much of what we do“says screenwriter Joby Harold. “And the degree of closeness between that shadow of Vader and Anakin is something we’ll find out. But it’s an integral part of the show, on an emotional level, for Obi-Wan…”
Series Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi launches May 25 on Disney+.
