The HBO Max movie will see Leslie Grace take on the costume of the DC Extended Universe heroine.
After The batman, which announces the imminent return of the vigilante of Gotham to the cinema, another figure of the extended universe of DC comics will soon arrive on the screens (but not the small ones, this time around). This is Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl, who will soon appear in a film airing on HBO Max and soberly titled Batgirl. Its directors, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, previously behind Bad Boys for Life, announced the start of filming on social networks.
Batgirl will therefore tell the adventures of Barbara Gordon, daughter of Gotham policeman James Gordon. Already embodied in 1967 and then in 1997 by Yvonne Craig and Alicia Silverstone, this super-heroine will this time have the features of the actress Leslie Grace, rising American star after her stint in the musical Where we come from (In the heights) adapted from Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Broadway hit (released on June 23, 2021 in France). A first visual of the concept-art of the film has been unveiled, and sets the tone for this future adaptation of the DC comics.
Besides this casting announcement, we know that James Gordon will always be played by Jk simmons (as in Justice league). We also know that a Batman will appear in the film, without knowing which of Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck or Robert Pattinson will hide under the costume. The latter will soon be showing at The batman by Matt Reeves, on March 2, 2022 at the cinema.
Pedro Almodovar would be interested in directing a DC Batgirl movie!
