The new erotic thriller from Adrian Lyne, director of Flashdance and 9 ½ weeks, finally hits the screens, twenty years after his last film.
Let’s take a short break between Middle Earth and the Crazy Multiverse to take an interest in a completely different type of film: deep waters (Deep Water in VO), the new thriller from Adrian Lyne, with Ana de Armas and Ben Affleck as a troubled and torrid couple. Casually, this is Lyne’s first film for twenty years: Unfaithful with Richard Gere and Diane Lane, remake of La Femme infidèle (1969) by Claude Chabrol was released in June 2022. Lyne still has films like flash dance Where Jacob’s Ladderas well as sweetly erotic classics like 9 ½ weeks, Fatal attraction and Indecent Proposal. Deepwater promises to feature Ana and Ben engaging in erotic games while those around them fall victim to serial murder. This teaser focuses more on the sexual tension between the two heroes – who were in a relationship in real life at the time of filming. Nothing to see with DeepwaterPeter Berg’s 2016 film with Mark Wahlberg recounting the catastrophic fire at the oil rig of the same name: it’s actually the adaptation (with Sam Levinson scripting, best known for the US version ofEuphoria with Zendaya) of a novel by Patricia Highsmith already filmed by Michel Deville in 1981 with Isabelle Huppert and Jean-Louis Trintignant as a murderous couple living in Jersey. deep waters from 2022 should be released on March 18 in streaming on Hulu in the USA, but no French date yet.
