Disney is not giving up on the idea of ​​adapting 20000 Leagues Under the Sea, the adventure imagined by Jules Verne in 1869, which has already been successfully adapted by the studio in 1954 with James Mason and Kirk Douglas. After having developed a film for several years (McG, David Fincher or Bryan Singer broke his teeth on the director side, and on the actor side, Dwayne Johnson and Brad Pitt have long expressed their interest in this project), the studio is finally preparing a series for Disney Plus, which will consist of 10 episodes and titled Nautilus, named after Captain Nemo’s famous submarine. James Dormer (Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands) and Johanna Devereaux (who develops pitches for the studio), are responsible for writing and co-producing this adaptation, which should start filming in early 2022.
