Disney reassures Peter Dinklage and announces a “different approach” to the 7 Dwarfs

“We are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have consulted with members of the dwarfism community.”

The influence of Tyrion Lannister is still spectacular… Peter Dinklage banged his fist on the table this week, indignant at the live remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which he says will continue to perpetuate stereotypes about short people.

You call yourself progressive on the one hand, but on the other, you continue to rehash this rotten story of seven dwarfs living together in a cave…“, the actor is indignant during a podcast, which concludes by saying he is open to a new approach, “a twist“, around the famous 7 Dwarfs of Snow White.

He will be happy to learn that Disney is on the same line! Responding to criticism from Peter Dinklage (via EW), the studio announces today in a press release its desire “to take a different approach“.

Without going into details, Disney explains:To avoid reinforcing the stereotypes of the original animated film, we’re taking a different approach with these seven characters and consulting with members of the dwarfism community. We look forward to sharing more with you as the film enters production after a long period of development.

We should therefore know more, very soon, about the new version of the companions of Snow White, in the film directed by Marc Webb, and which will star Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) against Gal Gadot (wonder woman).
