Maya Lopez, introduced in Hawkeye, will now have her own series.

You didn’t imagine that Marvel was going to make a spin-off on Maya Lopez, naughty secondary of Hawkeye ? Disney + is going all the way and this week confirms the official launch of production for its new series from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Echo will therefore be devoted to this hearing-impaired street fighter, ex-student of Kingpin, from the Native American community.

A first photo has been posted online and does not show much except the return of Alaqua Cox in the skin of Maya Lopez, with a new outfit.

Echo will stream on Disney+ in 2023, and will follow “the origin story of Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown”, says the synopsis. “She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots, and embrace a sense of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward. ”

The series will have six episodes and will be directed by Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie. In the casting, we will also see Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs and Cody Lightning.
