The director of District 9 made a horror film in secret, in 2020, in the midst of a pandemic.
At the very end of last year, we learned that Neill Blomkamp had managed to shoot a feature film in secret, far from Hollywood. Filmed in the Vancouver, Canada area with a small crew, under the code name “under the radar” with a handful of actors: Carly Pope (Elysium), Nathalie Boltt (Riverdale) Chris William Martin (The Vampire Diaries) and Michael Rogers (supernatural), the project is finally called Demonic, and its trailer, which has just been posted, promises a particularly scary horror film.

If the pitch is mysterious enough (“Young woman unleashes terrifying demons when supernatural forces behind decades-old feud between mother and daughter are brutally revealed”), this trailer gives us an idea of the stressful atmosphere of the film. Punctuated by almost subliminal images and a disturbing laugh, this video of Demonic plot, while suggesting that the director will move away from the themes that made his success with District 9, Elysium and Chappie to plunge the spectators into a real nightmare, with her heroine transported into a virtual universe, whose plans of destruction are superimposed on those of classic reality. We are now waiting to know its French release date, the Americans to find out on August 20 at the cinema.
