A metaphysical thriller that will tell the hunt for a serial killer through time.
Waiting for season 5 of The Handmaid’s Tale, Elizabeth Moss is going for a little spin on Apple TV+ for a new series called The Shining Girls. A metaphysical thriller that unveils its trailer today:
Adapted from the novel by Lauren Beukes, The Shining Girls follows Kirby Mazrachi (Moss), a Chicago newspaper archivist. Kirby aspired to become a journalist before a traumatic assault shattered his dream. When Kirby learns that a recent murder is linked to her assault, she teams up with veteran but troubled reporter Dan Velasquez (played by Wagner Moura) to unmask her attacker. As they realize these unsolved cases are inextricably linked, their own traumas and Kirby’s muddled reality give his attacker a head start. Philippa Soo, Amy Brenneman and Jamie Bell are also part of the cast.
Elizabeth Moss is also directing (with Michelle MacLaren) and producing. Silka Luisa will be showrunner. The first three episodes of The Shining Girls will be available from Friday April 29, followed by a new episode every week.
