“They did not please everyone when they came out, our prequels”, recognizes the interpreter of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
A few days before the launch of his series on Disney+, Ewan McGregor looks back on his story with Star Wars on the set of Jimmy Kimmel (exceptionally hosted by another presenter, Kimmel having caught the Covid). The actor will be back in Obi-Wan Kenobi from May 27, and he explains that he reviewed the whole saga before embodying the Jedi again. “I rewatched them all to prepare, because the last time I had done that was before shooting Episode III in Sydney, Australia in 2003. That was a long time ago, almost 20 years! It was hard at the time, because not everyone liked them when they came out, our prequels. But it did me good to see them again knowing that since then, people like them . The kids we made those movies for at the time, they really enjoyed them. It was nice to see them again with that in mind.”
Here is Ewan McGregor’s interview, in English:
Ewan McGregor has also said in the past that he badly experienced the filming of the prequels of George Lucas, in particular because of the significant use of green funds. But when he finished shooting the series last September, he already explained that he had had a great time on this project: “We just finished and it was really fun, I had a lot of fun. I think it won’t disappoint, it will be successful. I had a blast shooting it and I love the people who participated in it “They’re wonderful. The new technologies used on this shoot were cool, it was very different from my previous experience, I really enjoyed doing that… But I can’t tell you more, sorry.”
Obi-Wan Kenobi’s script has been revised because it was too dark: “We were looking for a story with hope”
