First image of Prey, the prequel to Predator set among the Comanches 300 years ago

Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) directs it for Disney Plus.

At the end of 2020, we learned that 20th Century Fox was hiring Dan Trachtenberg, known for having directed 10 Cloverfield Lane and episodes of the series Black mirror and The Boys, to stage a new Predator. Two years earlier, it was Shane Black, actor of the first film with Arnold Schwarzenegger, in 1987, who was supposed to relaunch the franchise, but his action comedy titled The Predator received a mixed reception.

The Predator: A sequel for the joke? [critique]

A year later, Fox was bought by Disney and it is therefore this studio that produced this film, of which we finally know some details: it will be a prequel titled Prey and taking place within a Comanche tribe, in the heart of North America, 300 years ago. This time it’s a young woman called Naru who will face the Predator and try to defend her people. Amber Midthunder (Legion) will play the heroine alongside Dane DiLiegro (American Horror Stories), Stefany Mathias (Longmire) and the Dakota Beavers revelation. Trachtenberg wrote the screenplay with Patrick Aison (the series Jack ryan), cinematographer Jeff Cutter (already at his side for 10 Cloverfield Lane) and editor Claudia Castello (Creed). The studio also unveiled an image of the film, and specified that it will be the first in the franchise to be released directly to streaming, on Disney Plus, and not in theaters. The firm intends to broadcast it during the summer of 2022.

“Prey will return to what made the Predator original worked so well, comments producer John Davis. It is the ingenuity of a human who never gives up, who is able to observe and deduce interpretations, and who can thus succeed in defeating a force more powerful and much better armed than himself. “
