Following the success of Red Alert, Domee Shi is promoted to Pixar

Producer Lindsay Collins is also rising in rank thanks to this same animated film.

Pixar just promoted Domee Shi and Lindsay Collins, respectively as vice president of the studio’s creative branch (alongside Andrew Stanton, Peter Sohn and Dan Scanlon) and vice president of development. A double promotion which is directly linked to the success ofRed alert on Disney+, reveals variety.

Red alert: welcome to the beast age! [critique]

The first staged it after having spent her entire career at Pixar: she was taken on as an internship during her studies, then worked on Inside Out, The Incredibles 2 or Toy Story 4 inasmuch as “story artist”. In 2018, she won the Oscar for best short film for Baohis very touching film unveiled at the cinema before The Incredibles 2. With Red alertshe became the first woman to direct the staging of a feature for the studio (Brenda Chapman had failed, with Rebel ten years ago, but the film was ultimately co-directed by Mark Andrews). This story of a little girl turning into a red panda at the time of adolescence, directly inspired by the director’s own childhood, received generally positive reviews, as well as a good public reception on the platform: without giving figures specific, Disney has announced that it started in the first position of the most viewed content of Disney +, last month.

Domee Shi joins other historical Pixar directors as vice president of the studio’s creative branch, and will thus participate in designing their next films as “brain”. She will thus be directly supervised by the bosses Jim Morris (at the head of Pixar) and Pete Docter (Creative Team Chair).

After Monsters and Co., Up, Inside Out and Soul, Pete Docter no longer has a project as a director

Lindsay Collins is one of the producers ofRed alert, and she too has had a career with the firm, starting at Pixar nearly 25 years ago. In particular, she participated in the design Wall-E and The world of Nemoand oversaw the shorts-making program, Spark Shorts, which helps introduce new talent to Disney. She too will report directly to the presidents of the box.
