The latest Marvel starts out better than Shang-Chi, but less so than Black Widow. (Source: Le Film Français)
With 772,802 admissions recorded in 579 theaters, including 160,000 on the Wednesday of its release, The Eternals starts well at the top of the French weekly ranking. The following films all recorded more than 100,000 tickets, and only one other novelty made it into the top 10: If we sang, in last position thanks to 112,384 tickets sold in 356 cinemas.
Chloe Zhao’s blockbuster is the third Marvel blockbuster to release this year, and it sits right in between the scores of Black widow (909,000 spectators in the first week) and Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings (481,000 over the same period).
The Eternals: a nice reboot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe [critique]
To die can wait therefore falls to second place, despite its very large number of rooms (1092). With an additional 276,345 curious, the latest James Bond reaches 3.6 million admissions, which is better than Casino Royale (released in 2006) and equivalent to Quantum of Solace (2008). To beat his own record, the latest episode of Daniel Craig will have to reach 6.9 million (Sky Fall, released in theaters in 2012, is so far the biggest success of the whole James Bond saga).
Two other top 10 films have more than a million admissions: Venom 2 (3rd with 226,100 more spectators) and Eiffel (6th, with 184,980 countermarks passed over the last seven days), released for three and four weeks respectively. The wolf and the lion, of Gilles de Maistre, should cross this symbolic bar next week, and remains for the moment in the top 5 with only about fifty entries less than Venom.
Next week the scores should be a bit lower as the All Saints holiday is now over.
