Future Crimes: the ultra disturbing trailer for the new David Cronenberg

In competition at Cannes, the film will bring together Viggo Mortensen, Léa Seydoux and Kristen Stewart. Big wait.

Eight years later Maps to the StarsDavid Cronenberg is back in great shape with The Crimes of the Future. Selected in official competition at the next Cannes festival, the film will notably bring together Viggo Mortensen, Léa Seydoux and Kristen Stewart in a story that is “Cronenbergian” as possible: while the human species adapts to a synthetic environment, the human body is subject to new transformations and mutations. With the complicity of his partner Caprice (Seydoux), Saul Tenser (Mortensen), a famous performer, stages the metamorphosis of his organs in avant-garde shows. Timlin (Stewart), an investigator with the Office of the National Organ Registry, follows their practices closely. It is then that a mysterious group appears: they want to take advantage of Saul’s notoriety to reveal to the world the next stage of human evolution…

Cronenberg seems to be reconnecting with his obsession with deformed and modified bodies from the 70s-80s-90s. We won’t complain. The Crimes of the Future will be released in cinemas on May 25, and will therefore be screened on the Croisette more or less at the same time. Watch the trailer:
