“I’m going to tell you a story. A story you think you know, but…well, you don’t.” It is with these words that the famous Cricket of Pinocchio (which has in VO the voice of Ewan McGregor) welcomes spectators to his home, which is none other than the heart of the wooden puppet imagined by Carlo Collodi in his unforgettable children’s tale. Either a trio passionate about animation, who have already officiated on the series Trollhunters for Netflix. The video also announces in passing a broadcasting slot: this dark version of Pinocchio, which will take place during the Mussolini dictatorship in Italy, will be put online on the platform in December 2022. In the voice cast, there will therefore be Ewan McGregor, but also David Bradley, Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, John Turturro, Ron Perlman, Tim Blake Nelson, Burn Gorman to surround the young Gregory Mann, responsible for doubling Pinocchio. This project is particularly close to the heart of Guillermo del Toro, which has been talking about it for several years and officially signed with Netflix in 2018 to bring it to fruition.
