A character from the MCU films made a sensational debut in the Disney + series. But what intrigues us the most is this Rolex …
Marvel fans were very hopeful that Vincent D’Onofrio would land in Episode 4 of Hawkeye. But Kingpin – yet crudely mentioned here and there, with this mysterious “Big Guy” at the head of this New York criminal organization – has not yet appeared in the Disney + series. It will certainly be for episode 5, as a springboard to the grand finale … In the meantime, we have seen another comeback. Less exciting, but just as promising. Attention spoilers!
How will Clint and Kate’s relationship evolve in Hawkeye’s sequel?
Yelena Belova, as expected
Indeed, in the last minutes of episode 5, Hawkeye got attacked by a mysterious over-trained fighter. Obviously, under the hood was hiding Yelena Belova, an elite Russian spy through the Red Chamber, the same institution that formed Natasha Romanov, whom Yelena considered her sister. In the post-credits scene of the film Black widow, we saw her go to meditate on Natasha’s grave, in the wake of the events ofAvengers: Endame. There, Countess Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (played by Julia Louis-Dreyfuss) – influential woman of power already crossed in Falcon and the Winter Soldier – designated Clint as responsible “of the death of (his) sister“. It seemed obvious then that Yelena was going to go on a revenge mission and that we would find her in the series devoted to the archer. Bingo! Florence pugh has made a smashing comeback in the MCU. Certainly by the end of the series, she will come back … to find out the truth and agree to share her grief with Clint?
Wendy Conrad, aka “Bombshell”, a nod to the comics
It is a small secondary character of Hawkeye, which is in the end a huge nod to comics. The policewoman named Wendy Conrad (played by Adetinpo Thomas), who comes to the aid of Clint and Kate Bishop, reveals in this episode 4 to be nicknamed “Bombshell”, by his girlfriend. A reference to the comics, where there is indeed a Wendy Conrad aka “Bombshell”, a contract killer introduced in the late 1980s, and hired to shoot down Hawkeye in the comics. It seems clear that this is, here, a simple “easter egg” and that the Disney + series will take a different path for the character. Sympathetic policewoman follower of the “cospplay”, she is rather an ally of the duo and it seems unlikely that this Bombshell will become a villain of the MCU.
What is this “vintage Rolex” watch?
Finally, a strange object animates in the background this episode 4 of Hawkeye. A precious jewel in more than one way, which obviously has a crucial importance in the Marvel Universe … Because Laura Barton (Linda Cardellini) is worried, from a distance, that a certain watch could have been stolen during the auction robbed (in episode 1). A “vintage Rolex”, as her husband describes it, which Clint believed to have been destroyed in Avengers HQ at the end of Endgame, we understand. But what is this watch? “It belonged to someone I worked with before … ” said Hawkeye. “He’s someone who’s been out of the game for a long time, but his identity is still tied to this watch.. “An Avengers teammate, then. But who? Who was the mysterious owner of the Rolex? And why is it so important? Endgame ? The mystery is still total. Response in the last two episodes of Hawkeye, coming to Disney +.
