Huge box office start in France for Doctor Strange 2

With 335,459 admissions in 24 hours, the Multiverse of Madness achieved the biggest launch of the year in French cinemas, far ahead of The Batman.

We knew Doctor Strange 2 expected by fans. This excitement translates concretely into the first impressive figures of the Multiverse of Madness at the French box office: already 335,459 spectators (including 1,250 at previews) went to see the new Marvel in 619 cinemas during its first day of release.

A hell of a start, which allows Doctor Strange 2 to do much better than the first part in 2016 (197,428 admissions over the same period of time) and even to afford the 2022 record by crushing The Batmanwhich has dominated this annual ranking so far, with a launch to 257,000 admissions last March.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: what future for (spoiler) within the MCU?

Even stronger, these spectacular debuts place the Multiverse of Madness at the top of Marvel Studios productions, at the French box office: Doctor Strange 2 indeed achieves the 5th best start of the MCU in France, behind the avengers (692,142 entries for Endgame and 405,058 Infinity War) and the last two Spiderman (476,494 entries for No Way Home and 453,503 for far from home).

Under these conditions, competition barely exists. It will be noted that Tenor with Michèle Laroque, took 2nd place with an interesting start, with 24,754 admissions (including 8,364 in AVP) in 428 cinemas.

Passengers of the night, with Emmanuelle Béart and Charlotte Gainsbourg, acclaimed by critics, accumulated 13,173 admissions (including 2,819 in AVP) in 236 cinemas and reached the podium.
