Aurora will be adapted from a novel by Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp.
While the book hasn’t even been released yet, Netflix has already secured the rights to the next novel by David Koepp : aurora. And it’s Kathryn Bigelow (point break)the first female director to win an Oscar (for Minesweepers in 2010), who will carry it, with the help of the writer (and director) who will take care of the script. Greg Shapiro will be in production with Gavin Polandwho had previously worked with Koepp on Hypnosis.
The book, which will be published on June 7 by Harper Collins, recounts catastrophic events caused by a solar storm, knocking out most of the planet’s power grids. In Illinois, a recently divorced mother will do anything to protect her daughter and become the protector of the neighborhood in which they live. As for her brother, a rich Silicon Valley CEO with whom she has almost no relationship, he will prefer to pass this test in his luxurious bunker provided for this kind of situation.
Bigelow hadn’t made a feature film since Detroitin 2017, a film that followed the 1967 race riots in the city of the same name.
