Lamb: Noomi Rapace meets the third kind [bande-annonce]

The film was presented at the Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard selection and won the originality award.

“Ada is a gift from heaven. Our new start”, says Noomi Rapace, or rather María, in Valdimar Jóhannsson’s first feature film Lamb. But now, Ada is a child with a lamb’s head.

It is in this particularity that the twist of Lamb. The spectator follows María and Ingvar, a couple living in seclusion with their flock of sheep on a farm in Iceland. Trying to stay upright despite a difficult bereavement, the couple one day discovers a mysterious newborn that they decide to keep and raise like their child: Ada. This new perspective brings a lot of happiness to the couple, but nature has one last surprise in store for them.

This dramatic Icelandic fantasy is worn by Noomi Rapace in the lead role. Essentially male, the cast is completed by Hilmir Snær Guðnason, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson and Ingvar Sigurðsson. Unveiling itself in a first trailer, we understand that life in the countryside is not easy for the characters of Lamb:

Presented in the Un Certain Regard selection at the 74th Cannes Film Festival this summer, the film received the originality award. A success supported by les Arcs Film Festival which chose Johannsson’s production as opening for its 13th edition on December 11, selecting the title in the Off Piste category. But if these two premieres have already teased the film to a handful of elected officials, it is on December 29 that the general public will be able to discover Lamb At the movie theater. Its French release, which is approaching, is accompanied by a poster reminiscent of the religious paintings of Piety, this time with a baby who is not really the miracle we expected.
