Lightyear: We know who will be the new French voice of Buzz Lightyear

Richard Darbois will not double as the hero of the Toy Story spin-off.

Following the broadcast of the trailer of Lightyear, the animated film from Disney-Pixar studios, which is based on the saga Toy story and devoted to Buzz Lightyear, the question of the change of voice of the hero arose. In original version, Chris Evans succeeds Tim Allen, and this change has a logical explanation: the film will no longer follow Buzz Lightyear, the toy, but Buzz the human, the one who had such a remarkable destiny that his image was used from model to a toy. What will Pixar-France’s decision be regarding Buzz’s voice? The answer has just fallen, on the official Facebook page of the fans of Richard Darbois, the original voice actor of the Space Ranger (but also of Harrison Ford in several films, of the Genie of Aladdin, of Biff Tannen in Back to the future…).

Here is the trailer in French for Lightyear, which will be released on June 22, 2022 at the cinema, and where the voice of the hero is not that of Darbois:

Lightyear is not a prequel to the Buzz Lightyear toy

“To infinity and beyond !”

As we suspected, to respect the change of original voice casting, Pixar France decided to hire Alexandre Gillet, the official voice of Chris Evans since 2013: it is he who doubles him in particular as Steve Rogers / Captain America in the Marvel superhero movies.
