Louis CK returns to the cinema with a new film, Fourth of July: trailer

The comedian is trying to revive himself after his sexual assault case.

Five after the case that led to his banishment, Louis CK unveils the trailer for his new film, Fourth of July. A comedy-drama about a New York jazz pianist (played by Joe List), an alcoholic in withdrawal, who confronts his dysfunctional family at their annual Fourth of July reunion, the US National Day.

In 2017, Louis CK admitted to having abused his power by sexually assaulting five women. A scandal that had nipped in the bud the release of his film I love you daddy, where Chloë Grace Moretz played a teenager who fell in love with a 60-year-old director. Since then, the comedian had been living with stand-up tours.

Louis CK is directing, writing (with Joe List) and playing the main character’s shrink. Fourth of July, whose release is announced for July 1 in the United States. If its distribution is still unclear, variety reports that the actor will tour several cities in the United States to present the film in the company of Joe List, with question-and-answer sessions in public.
