M. Night Shyamalan cast Dave Bautista after seeing him in Blade Runner 2049

“I didn’t know him at the time and he stuck in my mind.”

M.Night Shyamalan prepare his new movie, Knock at the Cabin, and if he wants to keep his pitch secret, he explained to the HollywoodReporter having chosen Dave Bautista for a specific reason: “I was carried away by what Denis (Villeneuve, the director) and Dave have done in this scene from Blade Runner. He was calm in a very powerful way. There is a form of immobility where one does not do anything, but where on the contrary one does everything, while remaining calm. Every cell in your body will do what it needs to do if you think right. Dave embodied this philosophy perfectly in this scene. I didn’t know him at the time and he stuck in my mind. When the script was finished, I thought to myself: ‘There’s a guy who could play this giant human while having this form of tranquility.’ So I called Dave.”

Dave Bautista therefore continues to collaborate with renowned filmmakers by signing for the next film by the director of Sixth Sense. After Denis Villeneuve, therefore (who has since re-hired him on Dunes), Rian Johnson (At loggerheads 2) or James Gunn (he will play Drax one last time in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2023), it will be at the heart of Knock at the Cabin, expected in theaters on February 3, 2023.

Dave Bautista was deemed too young for Blade Runner 2049
