I Helped Destroy People will tell the terrible investigations of an FBI agent after September 11, 2001.
Michael B.Jordan (Black Panther, Creed…) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman, Matrix 4…) have signed with Amazon Prime Video for the series I Helped Destroy Peoplewritten by Ben Watkins (already behind Hand of God for the studio), which will be inspired by a true story told by the New York Times last September.
Terry Albury was an idealistic FBI agent hired to infiltrate Muslim communities in the United States after the attacks of September 11, 2001. A job that gradually destroyed him, and because of which he himself destroyed lives. 17 years after his hiring, he decided to filter confidential documents to tell the excesses of the internal functioning of the FBI, which earned him four years in prison. “I did not disclose these documents because I had to blame the FBI for their racial discrimination…, he explains in the article. I did it because I got to a point where the reality of what I was helping to create hit me and turned my life upside down. There is a certain mythology surrounding the war on terror and the FBI, which gave agents the power to destroy the lives of completely innocent people, based only on their origins: where did they come from, what religion they practiced or what color their skin was. And I did that, I helped destroy people. For 17 years.”
The Wrap specifies that the two actors will be in the production of this series, but does not say if Michael B. Jordan will also play in it. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is introduced as the star of the show, hinting that he himself will play Terry Albury. This project adds to their busy agenda: the first is currently in full filming of Creed III then must find Will Smith for i am legend 2and the second is showingAmbulance, by Michael Bay.
