Harlan CobenNetflix

The American novelist has signed a deal with the platform to bring 14 of his thrillers to the screen. Half a dozen have already been broadcast.

For a few days, Without a word is a hit on Netflix. Based on the eponymous novelHold Tight) released in 2010, we follow the story of inhabitants of a well-to-do suburb of Warsaw whose peaceful existence is shattered when one of their own, young Adam, suddenly disappears… A new mystery thriller adapted of Harlan Cobenwho has already signed half a dozen series for the platform, since 2018.

Safe (2018)

The first of them has the particularity of being an original creation co-produced with Canal +. If it is created by the American writer, it is not adapted from one of his books and he did not sign any script. Despite the presence of Michael C. Hall, the result is a bit wonky and remains the series to this day Harlan Coben the most preventable on the platform.

Gone forever (2021)

In 2021, it is a French production which resumed the novel Gone for good in 5 intense episodes. A new story of disappearance, not really innovative on the merits, but carried by a tricolor cast with small onions: Finnegan Oldfield, Nicolas Duvauchelle, Garance Marillier and Guillaume Gouix.

Intimidation (2020)

The Stranger, from its original title, sees Richard Armitage uncover questionable secrets about his wife. A saga with twists that follow one another, with skeletons that never stop coming out of the cupboards. A psychological thriller smarter than it seems.

In the woods (2020)

Like Without a wordit is a Polish production, based on the novel In the Woods. 25 years after the disappearance of four teenagers in a holiday camp, the Warsaw prosecutor reopens the investigation. If the thriller deserved more ambition on the form, the mystery is gripping from start to finish and the characters terribly endearing.

Don’t walk away (2021)

Originally, in the pages of the novel, the story takes place in an American suburb. The Netflix version takes place in an English coastal town and weaves a thick plot full of twists and turns around Cush Jumbo (The Good Fight), formidable average housewife at first glance, who actually hides a heavy past. The perfect guilty pleasure binge-watch.

Innocent (2021)

This time, it is in Spain that the book of Harlan Coben is transposed. Nine years after going to prison after accidentally killing a young man during a fight, Mateo tries to rebuild his life, but will be caught up in the justice system. A carefully composed puzzle that goes the distance and contains many surprises. Fans of the genre will be served.
