Sidney Prescott will not return in the next Scream ! Back in the fifth opus released at the cinema at the beginning of the year, we thought that neve campbell would continue the adventure with directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who were a hit at the box office thanks to this “legacyquel” (its box office is $140 million). Currently in Netflix series The Lincoln Defensethe 48-year-old actress has just announced in a press release (relayed by Deadline) that she would not work again, visibly disappointed with the extent of the role and/or the cachet proposed for this new sequel. “Unfortunately, I will not be making the next film. Scream. As a woman, I had to work extremely hard during my career to have my value respected, especially within the saga Scream. I find that the offer that has been offered to me does not match the value that I have brought to this franchise. It’s a tough decision to make going forward. To all my fans of Scream, I love you. You have always supported me in such an incredible way. I will always be grateful to you and to this franchise that has supported me for the past 25 years.”

Without the main heroine of Screamthe cast of No. 6 currently consists of Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding and Jenna Ortega (who were already on the bill for No. 5), Hayden Panettiere, who played Kirby Reed in Scream 4in 2011, Courteney Cox, who has played Gale Weathers since the original 1996 film, and finally by Dermot Mulroney, who was just cast as a detective investigating the new Ghostface murders. A release date of Scream 6 is already scheduled for March 31, 2023.
