“What do you call a bad miracle?”
This Sunday is the Super Bowl in the United States. The opportunity for major studios, television channels and streaming platforms to teaser their future films and series. Some trailers are already starting to drop, including that of Boop, the mysterious new horror film from Jordan Peele. A feature film that promises to be as crazy as his first two features, get-out and Us.
The trailer opens with the shooting of a commercial starring Keke Palmer (Queens), who runs a movie hairdressing company, the only black-owned one in Hollywood, she explains, posing as the descendant of the rider who rode Muybridge’s horse.
Then, we find ourselves at the ranch, where a power cut occurs. A series of shots then show us people staring up at the sky, subjugated by a terrible threat. “What do you call a bad miracle? Is there a word for that?“, asks Daniel Kaluuya (get-out, Judas and the Black Messiah), while Keke Palmer is literally thrown through the air by a mysterious force. Obviously the strange cloud of the movie poster, shared by Jordan Peele last July.
For the moment, we will not know more. And it’s not the semblance of a synopsis published by Universal that will enlighten us. He just explains to us that Jordan Peele, who directed and wrote the film, will “revisiting the summer blockbuster with a new pop nightmare“. Boopwhere we also find Steven Yeun (minari), Michael Wincott (Hitchcock, Westworld) and Brandon Perea (The OA, American Insurrection), will be released in the United States on July 22, 2002.
