“He transforms completely for every character he plays, he demonstrated it again this year with Lupine.”
Omar Sy shared on Twitter the link to the top 100 most influential personalities of the year 2021 established by the magazine Time, saying to himself “honored to be part of the group”. The 43-year-old actor indeed appears in the category “artists” on the side of Scarlett Johansson, Kate Winslet, Chloe Zhao, Daniel Kaluuya or Steven Yeun. And it’s Bradley Cooper, whom he has known personally since the filming ofLive! (2015), who wrote a very nice text for him:
“Omar Sy laughs irresistibly. It’s contagious.
This is one of his many superpowers, which he possesses both as an actor and as a human. The first time I met Omar, I immediately felt his energy. He is present, open, happy to be there. It is a real light.
We had a lot of fun preparing Cheers!, both cooking with a team of professionals and even having the rare opportunity to work with some of London’s top chefs. After seeing his incredible performance in Untouchables, I couldn’t wait to play alongside him, and it was magical to see him pull off all of his scenes. He transforms completely for each character he plays, he demonstrated it again this year with Lupine, the Netflix series in which he plays a master of disguise.
Omar has all the talents, he can do everything: produce, direct, etc. And he will do it with all his heart, open and generous. If there is no way out, it is thanks to his kindness that he will get out of it and take you with him. A strong, trusting and easygoing kindness. That’s all we need right now. “
