“Is it Okayyyyy?” On M6, Asterix and Obelix at the service of His Majesty will be offered.
This is a first for the channel: TF1 will not devote the entire evening of Sunday April 10, 2022 to the first round of the presidential election. A press release details that the results will be commented on by Anne-Claire Coudray and Gilles Bouleau from 6:30 p.m. to 9:10 p.m., then that the comedy Visitors, by Jean-Marie Poiré, will be offered next, around 9:20 p.m. Always in the first part of the evening, therefore. Released in 1993, this time travel story starring Jean Reno, Valérie Lemercier, Marie-Anne Chazel and Christian Clavier has been hugely popular with audiences, attracting millions of viewers with each rerun, but so far the two rounds of he presidential elections were always the subject of a full evening of political analysis on TF1.
My cult scene of Visitors, by Jean-Marie Poiré
In detail, Adrien Gindre, head of the group’s political department, and Frédéric Dabi, the general manager of the IFOP, will be present on the set to detail the first estimates of the participation of the French, then at 8 p.m. will be invited “the main leaders of French political life, spokespersons and supporters of the candidates”, the statement said. Interviews are also scheduled live from the HQs of the various candidates. A choice thus justified by Thierry Thuillier, deputy general manager of the Information division of the TF1 group, with theAFP : “As a leading channel, we consider that in the hot part of an hour and a half (i.e. around 8 p.m., at the time of the official announcement of the results, editor’s note), we can have given all the facts, results, reactions, comments. This allows those who want to be entertained to stay on TF1 for the film, and those who want to go even further in the comments to do so on LCI.
The election night will indeed continue on the news channels continuously, as well as on France 2, Anne-Sophie Lapix and Laurent Delahousse leading discussions from 7:30 p.m. to midnight. But on TF1, place for entertainment. Moreover, it is not the only channel to make this choice: M6 will, for its part, offer Asterix and Obelix at the service of her majesty after an extended version of 19:45 presented by Nathalie Renoux and Olivier Bost.
The Visitors: Why Valérie Lemercier and Muriel Robin had a bad time filming
This decision caused several political figures to react, such as Cécile Duflot or Clémentine Autain. Here are their messages:
If we had to sum up one of the big worries of this presidential election, this decision by TF1 sums it up well……. https://t.co/BEJzLkfbMZ
