The former Tyrion of Game of Thrones plays the famous character of Edmond Rostand.
More than thirty years after the unforgettable version of Jean-Paul Rappeneau, played by Gérard Depardieu, here it is again Cyrano de Bergerac on the big screen. It is the British filmmaker Joe Wright who adapts here the novel by Edmond Rostand (1897), he who is already used to the great classics of literature transposed to the cinema, since we owe him in particular the Pride and Prejudice from 2005 with Keira Knightley or the Anna karenina from 2012 … with Keira Knightley too.
This time, the English actress is not part of the party, since it is the young Haley Bennett (The devil all the time) who puts himself in Roxane’s shoes. And to tell him what to say, this Cyrano has chosen an astonishing bias: it is Peter Dinklage, the unforgettable Tyrion Lannister from Game Of Thrones, who was cast to play the title role.
It should be noted that this is a musical, taken from the adaptation for West End by Erica Schmidt, who is none other than the wife of Peter Dinklage in the city.
This Cyrano de Bergerac will arrive in American theaters on Friday, December 31 and will be released in France on March 30, 2022 at theaters. In the rest of the cast, we will also find Kelvin Harrison Jr. (Christian), Ben Mendelsohn (De Guiche) and Brian Tyree Henry (Le Bret).
The official pitch: “The love triangle between a French army officer named Cyrano, a beautiful woman named Roxanne and a new attractive caddy named Christian. Cyrano is deeply in love with Roxanne, but, due to her physical appearance, he thinks she does will never love her back. Also, when she confides in him that she is in love with Christian, Cyrano, who is a fine scholar, helps Christian to woo her by writing letters which he will send to her. “
