The adaptation of the 1940s animated film by Robert Zemeckis will be released in September 2022 on Disney+.

A first photo from the set of Pinocchio just released, featuring Tom Hanks as Geppetto – the father of the wooden puppet. A real copy-paste of the animated version of 1940, the actor of The green Line wears a thick mustache, messy curly hair and a benevolent face. Before the announcement of the casting, it was the actor himself who had called the director Robert Zemeckis to express his interest in the role. The duo therefore resumes service, after Forrest Gump, Alone in the world and the Express pole.

Pinocchio: Disney confirms the live action film with Tom Hanks for 2022

This project is expected next September on Disney +, and not in the cinema. It wants to be much less dark than Guillermo del Toro’s versionwhich he is currently preparing for Netflix, since the adaptation of Zemeckis is essentially based on the cartoon version, while that of the director of The Shape of Water will return to Carlo Collodi’s tale published at the end of the 19th century, while evoking Mussolini’s dictatorship: the filmmaker warned that“it wouldn’t be a children’s movie”.

Here, we will therefore find the characters of the second classic in the history of the studio with big ears: Pinocchioplayed by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Jiminy Crickettwhich borrows the voice of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the coachman will be performed by Luke Evans, the Blue Fairy by Cynthia Erivo, and many more.

Here is a cult excerpt from the original film: “Without any connection”. A song that should logically also be part of the remake.
