Rob, composer: “working for small demanding films and defending them is fundamental”

Present at Cannes 2022 for his music for the film Le Barrage, presented at the Directors’ Fortnight, the composer of Rebecca Zlotowski and the Bureau des legendes explains his vision of the profession.

Robin Coudert, better known as Rob, composed the soundtracks for Rebecca Zlotowski’s films (Beautiful thorn, Planetariumseries The Savages), but also the music of Legends Officeof papicha by Mounia Meddour… In parallel with his rich career as a “classical” musician hunting in the lands of electro and ambient, Rob continues to be passionate about the infinite universe of cinema: here he is at the Cannes Film Festival 2022 to accompany Ali Cherri’s Le Barrage, presented at the Directors’ Fortnight. The story of a Sudanese worker who molds bricks, and who composes a clay creature that will come to life… Rob tells his vision of the profession of composer and the challenges that fascinate him in each project.

This year, Sacem is joining forces with the Festival to better highlight film music. In addition to a first climb of the steps of the composers (with artists like Alexandre Desplat, Mr Oizo alias Quentin Dupieux, Anne-Sophie Versnaeyen or even Amine Bouhafa), this 75th edition of the Cannes festival offered live performances every evening at Club Silencio.
