First planned in Miami, the film is finally shot in Sydney.
Russell crowe recently revealed that they wanted to build Aussieland, a large film studio in Australia. Before work even began, here he was walking his talk by shooting his second film as a director, not in Miami as was originally planned, but in the heart of Sydney. Poker face will be a thriller following a man turned billionaire thanks to new technologies, who becomes addicted to poker. Staging himself, Crowe will give the answer to Liam Hemsworth (Hunger Games), Elsa Pataky (the wife of his brother Chris Hemsworth, seen in Fast & Furious) and RZA (The man with the iron fists).
This announcement comes after a good period for filming in Australia: the country has been able to host several blockbusters (in particular Thor: Love and Thunder, by Taika Waititi, in which Russell plays Zeus), thanks to significant tax cuts for studios, but also to the management of the Covid-19 epidemic, which has made it possible to limit the cases on the continent for a long time. Unfortunately, this summer, the virus is gaining momentum there, especially in Sydney.
Poker face will be the star’s second achievement Gladiator, six years later the acclaimed The Water Diviner (translate in French The Promise of a Lifetime).
