Screech will be dead in Saved by the Gong: Season 2 will pay homage to Dustin Diamond

The whole Bayside gang will say goodbye to the character and actor, who died last February.

Expected for the end of the month, season 2 of the revival of Saved by the Bell fans of the cult sitcom are bound to have a bitter taste. And for good reason, it arrives a few months after the death of Dustin Diamond, who died on February 1st at the age of 44, from the consequences of a devastating lung cancer.

Obviously, Bayside will not be able to act as if nothing had happened and will pay a vibrant tribute to Screech, from the first episode of this season 2. The kind zany character with suspenders, appeared in 248 episodes of the franchise, will be at the center of ‘A memorial held by the 1993 Bayside Class, where Zack Morris and the others can mourn the passing of Samuel “Screech” Powers.

“It would have been wrong not to talk about Dustin’s death, in a real way. Not to allow our characters to mourn this character that we will never see again.”, commented producers Tracey Wigfield and Franco Bario in a interview with Variety.

Mark -Paul Gosselaar (Zack Morris), Tiffani Thiessen (Kelly Kapowski-Morris), Mario Lopez (AC Slater), Elizabeth Berkley Lauren (Jessie Spano) and Lark Voorhies (Lisa Turtle) will all be present to say goodbye to their comrade.

Screech will also be at the center of the opening credits of Season 2, which ends with a montage of vintage clips of the character, in order toe “reflect how important it was to the series, but also for the other characters. ” Recall that, in season 1, the absence of Screech was explained in a strange way: he lived on the International Space Station with his robot Kevin.

We will see how his death will be told in season 2 of Saved by Gong, on November 24 on the Peacock platform in the USA.
