Star Wars Rogue Squadron Goes Forward, Hires Screenwriter

Patty Jenkins will team up with Matthew Robinson (Dora and the Lost City, Love and Monsters).

Since its announcement with great fanfare last December, Star Wars Rogue Squadron didn’t seem to be making much progress, with Lucasfilm’s focus lately being the TV series pulled from the franchise for Disney Plus: The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Surprise, this week, Deadline reveals that the new blockbuster of the saga, to be directed by Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman and its sequel) has a screenwriter: Matthew Robinson, known in particular for having worked on the scripts of The Invention of Liyng, with Ricky Gervais or even Dora and the lost city and Love and monsters, was hired by Disney studios to write this film Star wars, which is due out on December 22, 2023 in theaters, and is slated to be filmed next year.
