Steven Spielberg is working on a new film around the character of Bullitt

This Friday, Warner Bros. has confirmed that Steven Spielberg is preparing a film about Frank Bullitt, originally played by Steve McQueen in the Peter Yates film.

As Spielberg completes post-production on his film The Fablemanshe is developing this new project in parallel, which will be a new adventure centered on the character of Bullitt and not a remake.

The 1968 film, produced by Steve McQueen’s company, is best known for its chases through the streets of San Francisco. The actor plays a policeman charged by a politician to protect the gangster Johnny Ross, whose testimony is crucial for the trial in which the politician is involved.

The film will be co-produced by Kristie Macosko Krieger and written by Josh Singer. Chad McQueen, son of Steve McQueen and Molly, his granddaughter, are set to executive produce.
