For $ 1.2 million. Ghosts understood?
The house that inspired The Conjuring is one of the most famous in the United States, and even more since the release of James Wan’s film. In 2013, its occupants were publicly annoyed with the Warner Bros., explaining that since the release of the film recounting the paranormal investigation of the Warren couple to hunt ghosts, strangers kept coming to their home to take their picture in front of the “haunted house” or phoned them in the middle of the night to scare them. They eventually left the place, but the new owners, who arrived in 2019 in this large Rhode Island mansion (this old farm has 14 rooms and is estimated at $ 1.2 million) have decided to leave. They appealed to the company Mott & Chace Sotheby’s International Realty to take care of the sale, and their announcement does not elude the supposed ghosts that would haunt the place. On the contrary, these ghost stories rather mark the occasion to get a big publicity stunt!
Nicknamed the mansion “the house of Conjuring” (although this is not where the movie was shot), the agency writes: “Legend has it that the house is haunted by the ghost of Bathsheba Sherman, who lived there in the 1800s. Since then, many experiences have been reported. Scary stories, incidents, and anecdotes from the residents themselves or of visitors, who have been told in several media: books, movies and TV shows. “ The announcement is even accompanied bya video using the codes of horror films as a “guided tour”, and it is also specified that its current owners organize nocturnal tours of the premises, inviting ghost hunters to come and film there, and that its new buyers will in turn be able to discover “its true potential” by acquiring it.
