Great Freedom and The Real Family take first prizes.
The 11th edition of the Festival 2 Cinéma de Valenciennes, which opened this year from September 24 to 29, has revealed its winners. Its five juries, including the Fictions and Documentaries juries, announced their winners among the films in the selection.

In the Fiction competition, it’s the feature film Great Freedom by Sebastien Meise who was chosen by the jury chaired by Marie-Josée Croze to receive the Grand Prix of the festival. The jury prize goes to The real family by Fabien Gorgeart, acclaimed at the Angoulême Festival. The female and male interpretation awards were then presented respectively to Joanna Scanlan in After love by Aleem Khan and Franz Rogowski for his role in Great Freedom by Sebastian Meise. This is the movie Small type by Samuel Theis who leaves with the Critics’ Prize, with a special mention for Great Freedom.
At last, The real family extends its award list with the Audience Award and the Student Award. After a remarkable preview at Angoulême this year, the feature will hit theaters on February 16, 2022.

On the documentary side, the Grand Prix awarded by the jury, which was chaired by Tony Gatlif, was awarded to Little Palestine, diary of a siege by Abdallah Al-Khatib. This Lebanon / France / Qatar co-production also received the student award.
The price of criticism went to Penguin & Gull and their 500 cubs by Michel Leclerc, while the documentary It is you that I was waiting for by Stéphanie Pillonca received the audience award.
