The Hand of God: the new Paolo Sorrentino unveils his trailer

The Italian filmmaker reunites with Toni Servillo for a fable about fate and family, sport and cinema, love and mourning.

Sorrentino’s paw on God’s hand unfolds. Netflix has just posted the official trailer for the Italian filmmaker’s new feature online. After Il Divo, The great bellezza Where The Young Pope, it is for the streaming platform that Paolo Sorrentino signed this new family fable, which will be the Italian representative for the Oscars 2022 in the category of best international film.

God’s hand tells the story of a boy, Fabietto Schisa, in the tumult of Naples in the 80s. A tale of sudden joys, like the arrival of football legend Diego Maradona, and unexpected tragedy. Fate is at work, and joys and sorrows collide as Fabietto walks towards his future. Paolo Sorrentino returns to his hometown to shoot his most intimate and personal film, a tale about fate and family, sport and cinema, love and death.

At the casting, Paolo Sorrentino finds Toni Servillo, his favorite actor, and it is the young Filippo Scotti who plays the main role of Fabietto Schisa. Released December 15th on Netflix.
