From October 26, 2021, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Spain and Andorra will be the first six countries of the Old Continent to host Netflix’s competing network. And in 2022, HBO Max will be available in 14 additional territories: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.

In fact, it is the countries of Europe where the HBO channel is already established (with HBO Nordic, HBO Spain …) which have been primarily targeted by the Warner group, certainly because it is much easier to do so. to throw HBO Max, both from a structural and licensing point of view.

Then HBO Max will she arrive in France? Nothing concrete has yet been announced for France, where the rights to HBO works are held by OCS. The group just specifies that “Additional launches on European territory are also planned for next year.”

While waiting to know which other European countries will be affected in the short term, the American company is delighted with this first step, “a historic moment.
