The Last Duel

Based on an incredible true story (two knights clash after one is accused of raping the other’s wife), set in an epic medieval setting and carried by a top cast (Jodie Comer, Matt Damon , Adam Driver), Ridley Scott’s film seemed to have all the ingredients and all the qualities to be a success. And yet, The Last Duel did not shake up the box office, including in France, where it only attracted 400,000 spectators in theaters. A heartbreak for this gesture of cinema which deserved to be seen on the big screen, but which it is essential to catch up on VOD.

The Eiffel Tower, Romain, Duris, Emma Mackey. The film by the aptly named Martin Bourboulon, the director of Papa or Maman 1 and 2 who is currently shooting an ambitious new diptych on D’Artagnan, is a great popular film. Without the health crisis, it could have known an even greater success (all the same 1 million spectators), so successful is this beautiful love story, carried by two actors with undeniable chemistry, just like the reconstitution of Paris at the end of the 19th century.

Burning Casablanca

A survivor of the Bataclan attacks, the Franco-American director Ismaël El Iraki signs here a burning love story between a fallen rock star and a prostitute. Two survivors – like him – who will rush at 100 an hour to live an impossible passion in a corseted society. A Sailor and Lula Tarantino sauce that exhausts the viewer to better hit him in the heart.
