While waiting to see Darth Vader land, they are the worst nightmare ofObi-Wan Kenobi in the new Disney + series! The Inquisitors made their very first live-action appearance in the franchise. Obi-Wan Kenobi is still the coolest: our review of the latest Star Wars series

A bit of history to begin with: at the end of Revenge of the Sith, Order 66 is issued and Palpatine’s Clones proceed to execute Republic Knights in packs of ten. Still, a few Force-sensitive people survived the purge. They managed to escape and have lived in hiding for all these years, hiding their true identities and powers. To track down these Jedi on the loose, the Galactic Empire has established an organization called Inquisitorius. These Inquisitors are obviously a reference to the Inquisition of the Middle Ages, whose goal was to fight the heresy of those who dared to live outside the dogmas of the Catholic Church. In this case, it is that of the Emperor who now prevails in the Far Far Away Galaxy. And to lead the hunt for heretics, Darth Sidious has called on Force-sensitive agents, often former Jedi turned to the dark side and who have sworn allegiance to the Emperor.

The Grand Inquisitor leads the Inquisitorius, while the other members identify themselves as Brothers and Sisters of that order. The red-colored dual lightsabers they wield are the reason for their nickname: “The Red Blades”.

The Inquisitors made their first in-universe appearance Star Wars in 2014 in Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion. The organization played a central role in the events of the animated series.

But their mythology will only be really explored in depth with the comics. dark Vador launched in 2015.

We also find these Inquisitors and many Sisters on consoles. In the video game Fallen Orderreleased in 2019, they tracked Cal Kestis, a runaway padawan (played by Cameron Monaghan), from planet to planet, looking to get their hands on a list of names: young Force-sensitive people all over the Galaxy. .

In the series Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Grand Inquisitor is personified by Rupert Friend. At his side, we see the Fifth Brother (Sung Kang) and the Third Sister (Moses Ingram) alias Reva… who goes downright assassinate the Grand Inquisitor from episode 2 !

A real surprise, even if it is not uncommon to see Inquisitors rebel against authority. In the comics, even Darth Vader has had to put disobedient members in their place. Logical, when the group is composed of beings belonging to the dark side and born of betrayal… These countless rebellions and betrayals are probably the reason why the organization did not last very long: at the time of RogueOnethe Emperor had already dismantled those out-of-control psychopathic Inquisitors!
