Every week, a film by the Spanish director arrives on the platform.
For forty years, Pedro Almodovar makes us vibrate with his unique style, full of colors and emotions. Figurehead of the Movida, he has established himself during his rich career as one of the most important and constant directors of European cinema. And he continues to delight us with his most recent works, such as the splendid Pain and Glory, which won the Cannes interpretation award for Antonio Banderas in 2019, or Madres Paralelas, which will be released in France on December 1, noticed at the last Venice Film Festival where Penélope Cruz was crowned best actress.
Almodovar is a filmmaker to celebrate, and this is what the MUBI platform has been doing since the start of the school year with a cycle entitled “Magnificent Obsessions”, in reference to the recurrence of themes at the heart of his filmography, such as sexuality or motherhood. After tie me Up, All about my mother and Speak with her, it’s Bad education (with Gael Garcia Bernal) arriving this Friday on the platform. Five other feature films will be added in the coming weeks: Volver, Broken Embraces, La Piel que Habito, Passenger Lovers and finally Julieta. If you don’t know MUBI, you can take advantage of the 7-day free offer to test the service.
