Luke Evans and Josh Gad confirm Disney+ won’t be making the series after all. At least for now.
In preparation for many months, the dedicated series Gaston and LeFouthe hunter The Beast and the Beast and his little sidekick, has just been suddenly unplugged by Disney. Production on the eight-episode musical was set to begin this summer, but was ultimately canceled by the studio outright.
Why ? According to Deadline, the decision was made for creative reasons, as well as delays with scripts and original music.
On Twitter, Luke Evans and Josh Gad, who were set to reprise their roles from the 2017 film (starring Emma Watson) confirm the news: “Unfortunately it’s true. We tried to make everything work, but in the end, it couldn’t happen… yet” they say, suggesting that the project may have only been postponed…
Sadly, ‘Tis true. We tried to make it all work but under the gun it wasn’t meant to be… for now. These characters and this story will live on, but sometimes the best intentions & reality collide & nothing can be done.
