Three years after Parasite, Bong Joon-ho returns to filming with Robert Pattinson

His next film, adapted from Mickey7, is going into production and will be filming all summer.

It’s been a few years now Bong Joon-ho was no longer on a set. Very taken by the planetary success of Parasitein 2019, the South Korean director rediscovered the joys of filming.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros. Pictures has already just launched the production of its new feature film at Leavesden studios, those of Harry Potter, located in North East London (UK). It will be an as-yet-untitled English-language sci-fi drama, carried by Robert Pattinson. For now, it’s still only pre-production, but filming will begin this summer.

New Bong Joon-ho will be the adaptation of Mickey7Edward Ashton’s novel not yet published in bookstores (expected release with us in July).

Described as a mix between Alone on Mars and DarkMatter by Blake Crouch, the book tells a story of clones. Mickey7 is a “Expandable”, understand a “consumable”, a disposable employee of a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world of Niflheim. Whenever there is a mission too dangerous, even suicidal, the crew turns to Mickey. After one version dies, a new body is regenerated with most of its memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his contract…and why it was the only vacant Colonial position when he took it.”
