“Believe it or not, I didn’t want to do Top Gun in the first place.”
Unveiled to the public at the Cannes Film Festival last July, Val, the documentary event about the actor Val Kilmer, will be available on VOD from January 20, 2021. To wait, the production company Originals Factory unveils three extracts, in which he evokes in turn his experiences on Top Gun (by Tony Scott, released in 1986), The Doors (Oliver Stone, 1991) and Batman forever (Joel Schumacher, 1995), three important films in his career.
Cannes 2021: a crazy docu on Val Kilmer, damaged but magnificent star
Admitting that he did not want to shoot the action film at the start, he explains that he was won over by Tony Scott’s way of working, and tells the story of the rivalry between the main actors of the film, notably with Tom Cruise. For The Doors, on the other hand, Kilmer absolutely wanted the role of Jim Morrison. As for Batman, he remembers above all a solitary experience, far from the role he dreamed of when he was a kid.

Short teasers, but which make you want to see more, as the images filmed by Val Kilmer during his life are so striking in truth. Note that it is not he who narrates his documentary, because he lost his voice, suffering from throat cancer. It was his son that he asked to tell his life story.
