Fabrice Luchini and Lily-Rose Depp are also there.
After portraying French media society in the form of satire in Francepresented at the 74th Cannes Film Festival, Bruno Dumont dabbles in science fiction and alien stories.
Indeed, his next feature film titled The Empire will be interested in the arrival of aliens on Earth, with a completely barred pitch: “Beneath the exterior of the common life of the inhabitants of a fishing village on the Opal Coast, arises the parallel and epic life of knights of interplanetary empires. In prey to the bloody fights of these clans at the announcement of the birth of Margat, Prince resurgent, mauve and filthy, Beast of the End of Times, located here on the Coast and brat of a young separated couple, as usual of their condition in a residential area.” But nothing is too crazy for Dumont who, since his beginnings, has accustomed us to extravagant intrigues.
And to lead this story, Dumont has assembled a high-flying cast: Virginie Efira, Fabrice Luchini, Adele Haenel and Lily Rose Depp will be on the bill, in addition to Bernard Pruvost, Philippe Jore and Julien Manier.
Still in production, The Empire will be for the three actresses a first experience in front of Bruno Dumont’s camera. As a reminder, Luchini had already worked with the director in 2016 with My Loutewhile the other three actors are very recognizable faces of the Dumont universe, having filmed in Little Quinquin (2014) and Coincoin and the Z’inhumans (2018).
